Tanya Harvey - Chairperson
Tanya Harvey is passionate about the benefits of an educated people to their society having experienced first hand the empowering effect that the focus on education has had in her mother's home country, Barbados.
Tanya chose to re-locate to SA in 2008 when she travelled overland from the UK with youngest two children and husband Martyn in their Landcruiser. She worked for 20 years within the Gas Transportation industry in the UK and has an Engineering degree and MBA. Tanya has 6 years of experience working within a UK School as a member and Chairperson of the Governing Body. Concurrently she worked on the management committee of the PTA at another school. She has been working with HABandBF since 2009 in the Tertiary Fund and became Chairperson of the whole fund in 2010, joining the Governing Body in 2016.
She was widowed in 2023 and has five children and five grandchildren.

Manzini Zungu - Governing Body Member
Manzini is Deputy Head teacher and Head of Outreach at Kearsney College and was educated at St Francis College (now MarianneHill) benefitting from the generosity of scholarship from a German Priest. Manzini achieved his BSc in Maths and went on to do Honours and a Masters. He started working at Kearsney in 2001, has 2 children of his own and also cares for 13 nephews and nieces who are the orphans of some of his siblings.
Manzini was appointed to the Governing Body of Hillcrest Advice Bureau and Bursary Fund in 2013 after 2 years of ad hoc involvement with the Schools Fund in his role of Head of Outreach at Kearsney College when boys of the college worked digging land drains to prevent classroom flooding in schools supported by the Schools Fund.

Mark Essey - Governing Body Member
Mark is the founder and CEO of Capability BPO, operating from offices in Durban and Cape Town and serving the South African and International markets.
Mark became a Governing Body Member of HABandBF in 2014 and has always had a belief and passion in education being the route out of poverty and towards a vibrant economy. Mark was Chairman of Governors at his 3 children's first school. He is married to Gayle.

Joe Mthembu - Governing Body Member
Joe is Operations Manager at iKhethelo ('Chosen Ones') Children's Village in KwaNyuswa where he co-parents the 48 children for whom iKhethelo is home. He was previously the Director of iKusasalethu (meaning 'A Brighter Future') NPO which delivered the Life Orientation classes for Grade 8's and 9's in 4 quintile High Schools in the Valley of 1000 Hills. With his breadth of hands on experience Joe joined the Governing Body in 2016 and started the CAO Project in 2017.
Joe is married to Notile and has 2 children. He is studying part time towards his B.Ed. through UNISA.

Lwazi Kleinbooi - Governing Body
Lwazi joined HABandBF in 2021 after leaving her HR role at UKZN in order to start her own HR consultancy. She facilitates CV and Interview workshops for the Tertiary Fund Students who are approaching graduation.
An experienced Human Resources professional with a career spanning nearly three decades, Lwazi specializes in organizational development and learning and development, and has worked extensively in both the financial and education sectors. Currently as a principal consultant for BKP Consulting, Lwazi applies deep expertise in developing strategic HR initiatives to improve organizational performance and employee development.
Lwazi is married with 2 children and became a member of the Governing Body in November 2023.

Nomfundo Mthembu - Governing Body
Nomfundo is a respected law lecturer at UKZN with a passion for nation building and social justice. She holds a Masters in Law from UKZN and is currently pursuing a PhD in Medical Law. She previously held the post of lecturer at DUT. Her research interests range widely, centring around reproductive law and the protection and promotion of human rights. She has presented at national and international conferences and served as external reviewer and moderator.
Nomfundo was appointed to the Governing Body of the HABandBF in 2023, and we are proud to count her among our alumnae.
